I'm Back!

It's been almost a year! And manila mum in oz is now in Manila:) Well so much has happened since my last entries. Actually now I remember why my last entries were in March, because come April 2012, I experienced really bad case of all day sickness. I thought it wouldn't end, but thank God it did and now were proud parents of another lovely girl. SO now my day is spent watching over our little one, feeding, burping making sure she's all happy and comfortable. And in my free time, I do online shopping, teehee, but mostly baby stuff so its all good I reckon:) So maybe that's what I will do, share some of my nice finds, and maybe be able to help a fellow mum or two. As mothers, we need all the help we can get right?:)
Cheers:)

Baked Chicken Strips

We had some chicken thigh fillets in the fridge so I was thinking of a way to best cook them. Good thing there's Google (my search term was ' chicken thigh recipe' haha) I found this recipe for Garlic Panko Chicken and saw good reviews. So I tweaked it a bit to my liking and came up with this:

4 pcs chicken thigh fillets, cut into strips
40 g butter - I used the unsalted one
3 cloves garlic, minced
a cup or so of panko
salt
Maggi savor, calamansi flavor

Preheat oven to 200 C
1. Melt butter then saute garlic. Put in bowl.
2. Season chicken with salt, maggi savor.
3. Dip the chicken pieces in the butter/garlic then dredge it in panko.
4. Put the chicken on a greased baking pan and bake for about 30 minutes or until cooked.

I cooked the chicken for 30 minutes and it came out tender and moist. Maybe I should have turned the chicken once so that the other side would have been crispy as well. Will probably do that next time.
Cheers!:)

Online Shopping

Online shopping is really great --- its convenient, you can do it anytime at the comfort of your own home and its actually cheaper more often than not. This is especially true here in Australia where its, I think, more expensive to shop, compared to other parts of the world like States and in Asia, for example the Philippines. That being said, I once in a while give in to shopping online:) Even while I was still in Manila, I was already a patron of online shops in Multiply. ( Now I think the sellers have to moved to Facebook? Di ko na inabot ) I got a lot online then, from baby bottles, to a breast pump, to kid's clothing, to handmade soaps... Suki talaga ako hahaha
Here in Oz my last online purchase was through Dorothy Perkins. I usually buy when they have sales/discounts and when they offer free shipping. It's a bit tricky when buying clothing though since you can't fit it and if you don't like it its not exactly cheap to send it back for a refund. So you really take a risk in that sense but once you get to know your size in a particular brand/label you're more or less okay. And its still shopping so its all fun:)

The loots:)

Craving: SiSig!

I was craving for sisig the other day so I had to make do with this:

Pork liempo still freezing cold so....

Treasures from the pantry:)

Finished product

It wasn't as good as the real thing but it was good enough for lunch. Made me miss the real sizzling sisig all the more though!

Cheers:)

Hello:)

I know I've let weeks pass leaving this blog inactive. Booo! My blog has merely served as a platform for me to read my favorite blogs in my blog lists and I know I've been lazy but! had a lot on my plate the past few weeks so I have a bit of an excuse:) Well for one we moved houses again to be closer to hubby's work. New year, new house (just to be clear, rental only, di kami rich hehe) So I went through the sorting, packing and cleaning once again. Here in Oz kasi if you're renting, you are expected to clean the house before you vacate. Then the real estate agent will check it and if all's clean and well, you get to have your bond back, which is usually a month's rent so I was really down on my knees cleaning! Well the hard work paid off we got our bond back in full:) Next  excuse and reason was we had some friends come over and stay with us the past few weeks. The thing I love about being in Melbourne now is that friends now visit us, hahaha. But seriously, I love having them around even if just for a few days. I wish my family could visit us soon as well.
Okay. So I hope I could get back to blogging again. We'll see.
Now I'm off to cook dinner (First time to cook lasagna, hope it turns out well)
Cheers everyone:)
